Adds ' symbol to formulas in GoogleSheet

Hi there!
I am using a playbook which adds data to a google sheet since August. Last week it started adding 'symbol to my formulas, see the screenshot Awesome Screenshot I have not changed any settings neither in Bardeen, nor in google sheets.

Please, help how to avoid it and have my formulas pasted as they should be again.

Thanks,
Natalia

Hi Natalia,

Thanks for reaching out. To help us troubleshoot this issue for you, could you provide the following details:

  1. The link to the playbook you are trying to use - here is how you can share your playbook link
  2. A brief description of what you are trying to accomplish (what did the formula look like before vs what it looks like after)

Thanks!

Hi Lucy,

Please see the details below:

  1. Playbook link https://www.bardeen.ai/playbook/community/new-playbook-3OpOXkXLj7pFFqdhWS

  2. I am trying to insert formulas to my spreadsheet. Here is the example of how it looks like:

=DATEVALUE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(INDIRECT(“AH” & ROW()), ", ", " "), “st”, “”), “th”, “”), “3rd”, “3”), “2nd”, “2”))

It worked perfectly until around 1 week ago. Now playbook adds apostrophe symbol at the beginning of the formula, so it does not work. What I have in my cell is:

'=DATEVALUE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(INDIRECT(“AH” & ROW()), ", ", " "), “st”, “”), “th”, “”), “3rd”, “3”), “2nd”, “2”))

Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks, Natalia

Hi Natalia,

Thanks for your patience! Around the end of Jan., the team had implemented a fix on Google Sheets integration to prevent errors with sending “formula” symbols to sheets, like +, = and '. This helps with stuff like phone numbers that start with a plus + sign: now, Sheets treats them like plain text, instead of treating them like formulas and throwing errors which impact your playbook.

The good news is that they don’t really need to send these formulas to Sheets. You can now get the scrapped data into sheets through Bardeen, and then apply all these formulas inside Sheet and modify both the sheet and the PB, and it should work again.

Hope this helps!
Lucy

Hi Lucy,

Thanks for getting back to me. So, there was some change of Bardeen’s logic, I see.

You can now get the scrapped data into sheets through Bardeen, and then apply all these formulas inside Sheet and modify both the sheet and the PB, and it should work again.

Could you, please, send me a step-by-step instruction of how to get the formulas I transfer from the PB to be inserted as formulas, not as plain text, so it all works again? This is very important part of my using of the PB.

Thanks!
Natalia

Hi Natalia,

Thank you so much for your patience in troubleshooting this issue. Like Lucy mentioned earlier, there is no need to send these formulas to your google sheet through Bardeen. The formulas are all the same on every row of the sheet, meaning there is no variation needed between them. The best course of action for you would be to not input any of the formulas through Bardeen and only add the other data points. Then, once your data has been collected successfully on the sheet, just go in and copy and paste the formulas as needed into the columns. If you need more specific instructions, I’d be happy to provide you with a loom video demonstration if you send me a copy of the current google sheet you’re working with. Hope this helps!
